Best Bars
I found myself eating too many protein bars recently.
I was having at least one a day there for a while.
I know they are marketed as being low sugar and a convenient healthy snack bar but when you look at the ingredients you see that they are full of crap 👎
...so I've been experimenting with lots of healthy bar, protein cake, banana bread and muffin recipes and this is what I've come up with...
These bars are by far the best bars I've ever had 👌
There are a few steps involved in making them but once you get the hang of it and know what you're doing you'll have them made in a flash
90g oats
90g nuts
30g cacao powder
Blitz the dates in the food processor to form a paste. You may need to add a little water depending on the dates you use. I get mine in Aldi for €1.99 for 300g.
Did you know that dates are rich in several vitamins, minerals, and fiber which are all beneficial for health. The benefits include relief from constipation, intestinal disorders, heart problems, anemia, sexual dysfunctions, diarrhea, abdominal cancer, and many other conditions.
Add the nuts, cacao and oats to the date paste and blitz until you have fine crumbs that hold together when you pinch them.
Line a tray with cling film and press the mixture firmly down and put it in the fridge to chill until the next layer is ready.
60g coconut oil
80g almond butter
Pinch of sea salt
Blitz the dates in the food processor to form a paste as you did for the base layer.
Melt the almond butter and coconut oil over a low heat until fully combined.
Add the nut butter mix and the salt to the date paste and blitz until well combined.
Pour the mixture on top of the base and flatten down with the back of a spoon.
Place in the fridge to set until the chocolate is ready.
6 squares Lidl 75% chocolate
20g coconut oil
Melt the chocolate and oil together
I use the microwave but do what ever suits you.
Pour the mixture in top of the caramel and place in the fridge to set.
When the chocolate is set use the clingfilm to remove the block from the tray.
I make 16 good size bars but you could do smaller ones if you like.
Here's the breakdown:
Calories 286
Fat 16.6g
Carbs 34.4g
Protein 3.5g
I wrap them individually and keep them in the fridge.
Let me know if you try them 😊
Have a great day 🌻
